In discussion it was generally agreed that the demonstrations were spontaneous and not deliberately planned that they were probably the result of economic difficulties and food shortages. It was agreed that an amendment should be made to the General and East Germany Sections of the review under consideration to make the dangers of a chain re-action of events clear. It was noted that, according to information received during the meeting, order in Berlin had been entirely re-established. In further discussion it was agreed that a paragraph on the political situation in Czechoslovakia should be included in the review.
