GENERAL SHORTT said that the only real difference of opinion which had arisen between the Air Ministry and the War office in the preparation of the memorandum, concerned their respective evaluations of the possible use likely to be made by the Communists of the I.L. 28 aircraft now known to be in Manchuria. The War Office were more uneasy than the Air Ministry about the scale of the possible operational employment of these aircraft in Korea. AIR VICE MARSHAL FRESSANGES said that the Air Ministry view was that these aircraft were unlikely to be used in Korea except for isolated raids.
