SECRET 2. ARMY LANGUAGE STUDENTS IN MACAO BRIGADIER JOHNSTONE referred to a telegram to the Colonial Office from Hong Kong⌿ on the situation in Macao suggesting that, among other measures to reduce the administrative effects of disturbances in Macao, the Army language students studying Cantonese there should be withdrawn to Hong Kong. There were at present three such students and arrangements were in hand to take advantage of their studies of the local Press by using them as an overt intelligence agency.
