SECRET 2. CHINA BUREAU (Previous reference: J.I.C.(51)9th Meeting, Minute 1 dated 24th January, 1951). THE COMMITTEE had before them:(a) A telegram= from the Joint Intelligence Committee, Far East, recommending the continuance of the China Bureau organisation in Hong Kong for interviewing European travellers from China. (b) A minute by the Secretaryx covering a letter to the Foreign Office from the Office of the U.K. Commissioner General in South East Asia, reporting discussions with Mr. Machell-Cox, the Head of the above organisation, on his future.
