CONFIDENTIAL RELEASE OF CAPTURED GERMAN DOCUMENTS TO THE GERMANS (Previous reference: J.I.C.(52)46th Meeting, Minute 4 of 25th April, 1952). THE COMMITTEE had before them (a) a minute by the secretary+ covering a minute by the Foreign Office, requesting the Committee's views on a proposal that information contained in B.I.O.S. and F.I.A.T. dossiers should, under certain circumstances, be made available to the Germans, and asking that, if approved, American agreement should be sought: (b) a minute by the SecretaryØ covering a minute by the Secretary, Cabinet Historical Section, emphasizing the concern of the Joint Consultative Committee on Captured Enemy Archives that no documents should be returned to the Germans either by the Americans or by ourselves without prior consultation with each other.
