TOP SECRET 4. CLEARANCE WITH THE FOREIGN OFFICE OF INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS WHICH MAY HAVE SERIOUS POLITICAL CONSEQUENCES THE COMMITTEE took note of a statement by the Chairman on the procedure for clearing with the Foreign Office intelligence operations which might have serious political consequences, a record of which has been circulated separately as a Confidential Annex to those concerned. TOP SECRET 5. COMMAND IN THE MEDITERRANEAN THE COMMITTEE were informed that a personal minute from the Prime Minister to the Minister of Defence, commenting on problems affecting the Naval Command in the Mediterranean had been referred to the Chiefs of Staff+ and that the Joint planning Staff had prepared a short paper setting out the British and United States views on Mediterranean Command, and covering other points made in the Prime Minister's minute.
