SECRET 1. SITUATION IN EGYPT THE COMMITTEE had before them a minute by the Secretary+ suggesting that, in view of developments in the situation in Egypt, the Committee might wish to discuss whether any action was required by them in the immediate future. MR. KING said that there was an obvious possibility that current negotiations with the Egyptian Government might break down, resulting in an awkward situation. It was, therefore, for consideration whether the Committee were required to take any steps to provide for such a contingency.
