As regards the suggestion that entry visas should not be granted at less than 14 days notice, he appreciated the difficulties facing the Foreign Office in such delaying tactics, but pointed out that unless D.S.I. had time to prepare for the visits, there was little point in warning them. MR. HOLLIS undertook to report to the Committee the following week on the sources from which the Security Service learnt that the 31 Russians were, in fact, scientists and technicians.
