TOP SECRET 1. SOVIET STRATEGY IN THE EVENT OF GENERAL WAR, (Previous reference: J.I.C.(52)28th Meeting, Minute 8 of 6th March, 1952). THE COMMITTEE considered a draft report+ on Soviet Strategy in the event of general war, 1952/1955, together with minutes by the Secretaryø reporting that the Chiefs of Staff had instructed the Committee to re-examine the threat to the Middle East, and also to examine and report on a paper by Sir Henry Tizard⊕ on the Threat to Sea Communications in War. THE JOINT INTELLIGENCE STAFF said that, although only in preliminary draft stage, the report had been placed on the agenda for the Committee for approval of its general lay-out and broad conclusions, before further detailed study was given to the subject.
