TOP SECRET 1. ESTIMATE OF STRENGTH AND CAPABILITIES OF N.A.T.O. AND SOVIET BLOC FORCES AT PRESENT AND IN THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE THE COMMITTEE had before them expurgated versions of M.C. 33 (Estimate of strength and capabilities of N.A.T.O. and Soviet Bloc Forces at present and in the immediate future. One version was intended for Confidential discussion by Ministers; one for Public use. THE CHAIRMAN stated that these reports had been given provisional approval by the Standing Group on 10th January, 1952, and were to be considered by the military Representatives Committee in Washington on 17th January, 1952.
