THE COMMITTEE took note of a statement by Mr. Carey-Foster which has been circulated separately as a Confidential Annex. SECRET 3. SECURITY VETTING OF LETTERS FROM BRITISH PRISONERS-OF-WAR Previous reference: J.I.C. (52) 3rd Meeting, Minute 4 of 4th January, 1952). GROUP CAPTAIN MEARS said that, following the Committee's discussion the previous week on the handling of letters from British prisoners-of-war in Korea, the three Service Ministers had approved the Committee's recommendation that all letters received from prisoners-of-war in Korea should be scrutinised by Departments concerned.
