-2'X' SECRET BRIGADIER JOHNSTONE said that there was only one battalion stationed in the West Indies, and this was located at Jamaica. One company had been sent from Jamaica to British Honduras when the Guatemalans caused trouble last year and had remained there ever since. The War Office had wanted the company to return to Jamaica, but at a meeting held on 18th July, 1951, between representatives of the Foreign Office, Colonial Office and War Office, it had been decided that the presence of the company at British Honduras represented an effective deterrent against any aggressive action from the Guatemalans, and it should, therefore, remain.
