SECRET 3. SECURITY CLASSIFICATION OF SERVICE TELEPRINTER CIRCUITS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM IN WAR. (Previous reference: J.I.C.(51)65th Meetings, Minute 2.) THE COMMITTEE recalled that, at their previous meeting in discussion of the United Kingdom Defence Teleprinter network, they had invited the B.J.C-E.B. to press for the provision of "on line" cypher equipment and for any other measures which might add meanwhile to the security of the circuits, and to invite the Post Office to take note of the problem and to ensure that all personnel who might be in a position to tap the circuits should be vetted in peace and in war.
