THE COMMITTEE considered a report by the Joint Intelligence Committee, Far Eastx, assessing Communist Submarine Activities and Capabilities in the South China Sea, together with a Minute by the Secretary≠ covering draft comments prepared by the Joint Intelligence Staff thereon. CAPTAIN HILKEN, referring to the first draft comment, said that, whereas the Soviet Union might well make some midget submarines available to the Chinese Communists in due course, there was no evidence of any intention to do so.
