2. SERVICE REQUIREMENTS OF RUSSIAN SECRET LINGUISTS. THE CHAIRMAN said that he had attended the meetingø of the chiefs of Staff at which they had considered the report+ by the Ministry of Defence Working Party on Service Requirements of Russian Linguists. Inview of the manpower implications of the report it had not been approved and the Service Departments and the Committee had been instructed to review the requirements in order to see whether they could be reduced overall or met by employment of foreigners, women, and persons who were either unfit or over military age.
