TOP SECRET In discussion, it was generally agreed that the attention of the Greeks would have to be drawn to the rules governing the exchange of information but before doing so the United States authorities in Greece should be informed of our proposals and asked whether they had any objections and whether they would take parallel action. The draft letters to the Military Attache, Athens, and to the Head of the British Military Mission, should therefore be recast in the light of the discussion warning them of the fears of anything that might put a brake on the development of relations between the Greeks and Turks and leaving it to them to decide, in consultation with the United States authorities there, how best to proceed.
