SECRET On balance, therefore, it was generally agreed that the denial value of Herr Multhopp to the Russians outweighed such security risks as might be incurred by his employment in a leading aircraft firm in this country provided that every possible inducement was given to him to remain permanently in this country. Since his employment in the design department of a leading aircraft firm carrying out Government contracts was contrary to normal current security practice, it would be advisable if both the Society of British Aircraft Constructors and the firm concerned could be informed of the views of the Committee and that his employment would not prejudice the grant of contracts to the firm concerned.
