TOP SECRET United States views The views of the United States Joint Intelligence Committee were then considered and their suggested amendment approved. Atomic Energy MR. HAYTER recalled that at their previous meeting it had been reported that the Division of Atomic Energy wished the paragraph on atomic energy in Part I of the draft Combined Appreciation, paragraph 106, to be withdrawn, but the Committee were firmly of the opinion that a replacement to this paragraph was essential. The Division of Atomic Energy had now expressed the view that while they did not wish to offer alternative figures for those contained in the existing paragraph, they were of the opinion nevertheless that these were too high.
