TRAFFORD SMITH said that with regard to the question of Local Intelligence Committees discussed in the despatch, the British Defence Co-ordination Committee, Far East, had considered the establishment of a Local Intelligence Committee in the Federation of Malaya and had agreed that the existing arrangements there, whereby local intelligence matters were dealt with by a Standing Conference, appeared to be working satisfactorily.
