TOP SECRET COLONEL HARDING-NEWMAN said that the War Office were particularly concerned about the lack of rapid communications between the outlying area of the Protectorate and the Colony of Sierra Leone. It was important that any information regarding Communist infiltration should be made available to the authorities, both locally and in London, as quickly as possible. The existing plan for improving the communications would take some time to complete and the War Office therefore suggested that they might be able to assist in providing a more rapid means of communication in a shorter period.
