an error in the minute by the Secretary, Joint Intelligence Committee, Middle East, possibly a misprint for Arabia, since beach reconnaissance of Saudi Arabia appeared in Priority 'A' THE COMMITTEE:(1) Instructed the Secretary to confirm with the Secretary, Joint Intelligence Committee, Middle East, that beach reconnaissance of the Libyan coast was, in fact, intended in the near future; (2) Agreed to reconsider the matter in the light of the reply from the Middle East. 3TIME OF THE YEAR AT WHICH WAR MIGHT BREAK OUT TOP SECRET (Previous Reference: J.I.C.(48) 139th Meeting, Minute 1) THE COMMITTEE had before them:(i) a minute+ by the Secretary covering a report by the United States Joint Intelligence Committee, estimating the optimum time of year for a war to commence from the Soviet viewpoint; draft comments by the Joint Intelligence Staff on the United States report were also attached; (ii) a second revised draft reportx.
