3. EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION WITH INDIA TOP SECRET AIR VICE MARSHAL PENDRED said that the Air Ministry had been asked by the High Commissioner for India for information on the Order of Battle of the Royal Air Force, a breakdown of figures of R.A.F. personnel, types of aircraft and numbers of aircraft of each type. The request had been made on the basis that it should be a quid pro quo for similar information supplied to us on the Royal Indian Air Force. He was of the opinion that although, as a result of India's recent decision to remain within the Commonwealth, it was obviously essential that she should be given more information than had previously been the case, she should still only be given such classified information as it was necessary for her to have for defence purposes.
