2. SCALE AND NATURE OF INITIAL AIR ATTACK TOP SECRET ON THE UNITED KINGDOM 1957 (Previous Reference: J.I.C.(49) 15th Meeting, Minute 2) THE COMMITTEE considered a revised draft report+ on the scale and nature of initial air attack on the United Kingdom in 1957. AIR VICE MARSHAL PENDRED said that the revised draft report before the Committee had now been prepared to incorporate the amendments and revisions suggested at the previous meeting. The Air Ministry had, however, been unable to amend paragraph 6(c) on the strength of Soviet military transport aircraft to take into account the estimated number of airborne divisions possessed by the Russians, since there was no evidence available to justify any amendment to the figure at present stated.
