USE FOR PUBLICITY PURPOSES OF MATERIAL OBTAINED TOP SECRET FROM THE RUSSIAN PRESS THE COMMITTEE had before them a minute+ by the Secretary covering a minute by the Foreign Office asking for the views of the Committee on whether material obtained from the Baltic and Russian Central Asian Press could be used for publicity purposes in view of the possible risk that the Russians might cut off the supply of this material at source. MR. WATSON said that the Joint Intelligence Bureau obtained much information of value from the Baltic and Russian Central Asian Press which provided a quarter of the total provincial coverage of Russia, containing much information not in the national Press.
