ARMED FORCES IN THE EVENT OF BRITISH FORCES OCCUPYING ABADAN ISLAND THE COMMITTEE considered a minute+ by the Secretary covering a reportby the Joint Intelligence Committee (Middle East) examining the possible reactions of the Persian and Iraqi armed forces in the event of British forces occupying Abadan Island. MR. BRAIN, referring to paragraph 2 of the Annex to the report by the Joint Intelligence Committee (Middle East), agreed that the Persian Government would certainly be most reluctant to accede to any demand for the entry of foreign troops into its territories in view of Russian reaction.
