LIEUTENANT COLONEL MACKENZIE said that before any action could be taken in this respect it would be necessary to ascertain the views of the Americans on the proposal. He pointed out that the Australians did not now maintain a representative in that country, and the War Office would be glad to establish a means of obtaining direct information on the area provided the Americans were agreeable. AIR COMMODORE VINTRAS said that, although the Joint Intelligence Bureau would be glad to obtain information regarding the Philipinnes, there was no essential requirement, and he assumed that such information as might be necessary in an emergency would be forthcoming from American sources.
