2. METHODS OF INTERROGATION THE COMMITTEE had before them a minute+ by the Secretary covering a letter from the Foreign Office asking them to consider the desirability of issuing a general instruction on the use of mental pressure during interrogation in view of the facts which had come to light as a result of a recent courts-martial. BRIGADIER PAGE circulated a note of the instructions which it was proposed to issue for intelligence officers conducting interrogations. He informed the Committee that he had recently visited an interrogation centre in Germany and that it was carefully supervised by the Commandant who was a member of the Legal and Penal Division of the Control Commission.
