(b.)Responsibility of the Joint Intelligence Bureau for Information on the United Kingdom. MR. WATSON said that his minute had been prompted by the danger of resolving a general point of principle, namely, the responsibility for information on the United Kingdom as a whole, on the one question of deciding who should be responsible for the aspect of beach information, without first examining the extent and nature of the commit ment. A need for this general information had recently arisen from a request from the Joint Planning Staff and the Sub-Committee for an economic appreciation of the war potential of this country, a subject which was not within the existing Charter of the Joint Intelligence Bureau.
