THE SUB-COMMITTEE:Invited Mr. Hayter, in consultation with the Director General of the Security Service, to examine the form that the report should take and the channel for its submission to higher authority, and to raise the matter at a future meeting. 3. REVIEW OF THE INTELLIGENCE ORGANISATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST. (Previous reference: C.O.S. (47) 73rd Meeting, Minute 2) THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them a Minute* by the Director of Naval Intelligence, circulated as a basis for discussing the review of the intelligence organisation in the Middle East, as instructedø by the Chiefs of Staff, with particular reference to the availability of political and economic intelligence and to the areas for which the Joint Intelligence Committee, Middle East, should be responsible.
