AIR COMMODORE HAWTREY suggested that the study of the problem should be deferred until the results of the strategic review at present under preparation by the Future Planning Section were available, and guidance from the Defence Research Policy Committee had been sought; and that the Chiefs of Staff might be informed accordingly. In disucssion it was pointed out that the strategic review by the Future Planning Section was intended to cover a longer period than that envisaged in the draft report, namely, from 10-15 years hence, and that while it might serve as useful background, it would probably not justify holding up the report by the Sub-Committee until its completion.
