2 RESTRICTED–DISCREET ANNEX INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USE OF THE CODEWORD "DISCREET" 1. The meaning of the codeword "Discreet" when stamped upon a document is as follows:— "This document contains classified military information of United States or joint United States/United Kingdom origin, which may not be passed to countries other than the United Kingdom or the United States without the permission of the United States Government, which must be obtained through Her Majesty's Government." 2. Where the agreement of the United States Government has been obtained to the release of the United States information contained in the document to a third country, e.g., Canada, the document should be stamped "Discreet, but cleared for Canada." 3.
