A vast range of international and domestic issues are investigated and analysed in the JIC's reports. Subjects covered in this file include the military strength of the Soviet Union and its satellites; probable Soviet strategies in the event of a major war and the possibility of a Soviet surprise attack; communist intentions in Korea and French Indochina; the political situation in Nepal, Thailand, and Malaysia; the position of Chinese Nationalists in southern China and Taiwan; relations between Israel and the Arab states; and the threat posed to the United Kingdom by Soviet atomic weapons.
