Situation in Spain

1 Jan 1952

SECRET military manpower. If her resources were to be exploited, Spain would be much wealthier than she is at present. Apart from her manpower her main assets are:(a) Minerals. These are as yet poorly exploited on account of the backwardness of industry, lack of power and poorly developed and maintained transport. Foremost amongst them are iron ore of good quality, iron pyrites, mercury and to a lesser extent, coal, tungsten, lead, zinc, bauxite and copper. (Spain's exports of iron are and pyrites are of considerable importance to the United Kingdom).
