Marking of Documents Containing Information of United States Origin

SECRET DISCREET 5. While the large majority of documents containing information of U.S. or joint U.S./U.K. origin will be marked only with the word DISCREET, cases will arise where documents are to be treated as exceptions to the normal rules: (a) In certain cases a document containing information which, under the current rules should be withheld from certain Commonwealth countries, may be specifically cleared for disclosure to them. In such a case the document should be marked "DISCREET" (but cleared for...............)".
