Scale and Nature of Raids on the U.K. In the Event of War. 1951-52

TOP SECRET (vii) to divert our war effort into defensive channels. (c) Targets which are most suitable for destruction by airborne raids are:(i) radar stations and air defence control centres; (ii) selected pin-point targets of key importance in public utilities, industry and transport; (iii) national leaders and isolated key centres of administration or research. (d) The target systems in (b) (i), and in (b) (ii) if the airfields were attacked, could not be put out of action effectively unless a number of raids each of not less than a battalion strength were launched simultaneously.
