RESTRICTED ANNEX U.S. SENATE INVESTIGATION INTO DISMISSAL OF GENERAL MACARTHUR GENERAL MACARTHUR'S EVIDENCE General Macarthur's main point, to which he constantly returned, has been his agreement with the Joint Chiefs of Staff on their recommendations of 12th January to the Defence Department. 2. "The position of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and my own, so far as I know, were practically identical. On January 12, the Joint Chiefs of Staff presented a study to the Secretary of Defence embodying these conditions: That we were to continue and intensify now an economic blockade of trade with China.
