TOP SECRET APPENDIX "A" RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PROVISION OF ESCAPE ROUTES AND EVACUATION PLANS AT THE PRESENT TIME AND IN WAR 1. The relative responsibilities of the Services and M.I.6. in peace and war have been agreed as follows, and confirmation of the Chiefs of Staff is now sought: (a) In Peace: A.I.9., Air Ministry: (i) (ii) Training of Service personnel in the technique of evasion and escape. (iii) Research on and development of special equipment to meet the needs of evaders and escapers.
