Chemical Warfare.- the Enemy Threat

1 Apr 1950

TOP SECRET The German plant at Dyhernfurth for the manufacture of ###un, together with the partially erected pilot plant for Sarin, fell into Russian hands early in 1945. It seems clear that a considerable proportion of the Dyhernfurth plant was dismantled and removed to the U.S.S.R. There is evidence that some of this plant has arrived at Factory 91, at BEKETOVKA, near STALINGRAD, where we believe that a plant for quantity production of at least one of the nerve gases is in process of erection. The evidence does not permit any firm conclusion as to which nerve gas might be manufactured nor as to the progress made, but the date for the start of large scale production has been estimated as during the first half of 1951.
