TOP SECRET ANNEX POSSIBLE SCALE AND NATURE OF RAIDS ON THE UNITED KINGDOM IN THE EVENT OF A WAR IN 1949/50. Assumptions We have assumed that:(a) War will break out in 1949/50 (b) The strategic situation will be as assessed in our previous report+ "Invasion of the United Kingdom 1949/50." Soviet Intentions 2. We have appreciatedø that the immediate aim of the Soviet Union after overruning Western Europe will be to neutralise the U.K. as a serious military factor and to deny the use of the U.K.
