TOP SECRET Deployment of United States Forces to implement their strategy 5. Naval Forces. The United States naval forces would be deployed as outlined in Plan SPEEDWAYø and in particular the United States carrier forces would be available to assist in keeping open the Mediterranean lines of communications. 6. Land Forces. The build-up of the United States land forces would take place in Morocco as follows:(a) One division by D+1 ready for operations by D+3 months. (b) Two more divisions by D+3 months ready for operations by D+4 months, and thereafter as in Plan SPEEDWAY.
