TOP SECRET Yangtse crossings. The C-in-C Communist Navy has been named on the Communist radio as Captain Teng Chao-hsiang who was commanding the cruiser "Chungking" (ex-Aurora) when she defected. He was last reported to be in Mukden, where he was feted and made indignant speeches about the bombing of his ships at Hulutao. He was British trained 1929/34, brought "Chungking" out from U.K. to China last year and gave a great deal of trouble en route to the British liaison staff on board who had a poor opinion of his capabilities.
