It is issued for the personal use Reference: J.I.C.(48) 127 (Final) GUARD CHIEFS OF STAFF COMMITTEE JOINT INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE DISCLOSURE OF BRITISH MILITARY INFORMATION TO COUNTRIES Note by the Secretary At their meeting on 22nd December 1948,ø the Chiefs of Staff considered the above quoted report by the Joint Intelligence Committee. The Chiefs of Staff approved the alternative recommendation in paragraph 19 of that report, namely that the policyx now in force should be continued whereby all members of the Commonwealth are outwardly treated alike, but in practice the "new" members receive only such Top Secret and Secret information as is necessary for their immediate military needs, each case being decided by Departments as it arises, on an ad hoc basis.
