Yugoslav - Cominform Dispute. Report by the Joint Intelligence Committee

1 May 1948

(b) In the event of a war between the Soviet Union and the Western Powers :(i) Tito would support the Soviet Union; co-operation would, however, be impaired. (ii) The value to the Soviet Union of the Yugoslav armed forces in war would be reduced, and their reliability would be questionable. (iii) Yugoslav ports and airfields would be unprepared. Recommendation. 4. We recommend that the Chiefs of Staff take note of this report, and instruct the Secretary to submit a copy to the Minister of Defence for information.
