ANNEX. SCALE AND NATURE OF ATTACK AGAINST SEA COMMUNICATIONS. Assumptions. We have taken into consideration our previous report entitled "Basic Assumptions for Planning."+ 2. In our previous report entitled "strategic Intentions of the Soviet Union"ø we concluded that a sea and air offensive against Anglo-American sea communications would be undertaken concurrently with the following :(a) A campaign against western Europe to gain the Atlantic seaboard and close the Mediterranean. (b) An aerial bombardment of the British Isles, possibly using some weapons of mass destruction.
