American Intelligence Appreciations

1 May 1948

Comments by Joint Intelligence Committee, London on Central Intelligence Agency reports. ORE 23-48 The Current Situation in the Free Territory of Trieste. Page 5. In 1947, however, maritime activity in Trieste was only 45 per cent of the 1938 traffic. We believe the monthly average port traffic in 1938 to have been 132,000 tons. In 1946 it was reported to be 125,000 tons and, in the first 8 months of 1947, 106,000 tons, that is, 94.7 per cent and 80.3 per cent of 1938 respectively..
