Comments by J.I.C., London, on Central Intelligence Agency reports. ORE 64 The Current Situation in France. 1. Page 1 para. 1 sub-para. 3. The Chief of the General Staff (Gen. Revers) estimates that France has the manpower to raise between 40 and 50 Divisions i.e. about 2,000,000 men. They would have to be equipped almost entirely from outside sources. 2. Page 2. It is suggested that, if de Gaulle came into power and failed to improve the conomic conditions, the Communists might come to power on the swing of the pendulum.
