Arab Reactions to the Decision to Partition Palestine

Nature of the Arab Threat. 5. The Arab threat would be directed primarily against the Jews. Any military operations undertaken by the Arabs would not be directed against such British forces as remained in Palestine. The Arabs have announced their intention to occupy the Rutenburg hydro-electrical installation (situated on the Transjordan frontier), the Dead Sea potash works (whence Jews obtain raw materials for explosives) and the Port of Haifa, on the withdrawal of British forces from these points.
